A 2016 systematic review found early evidence of potential skin benefits from turmeric or curcumin preparations, while noting limited research. Its studies involved different oral and topical treatments. It did not test Gaucho Gold or demonstrate treatment benefits from our rinse-off soap.
What the turmeric review actually included
Vaughn, Branum and Sivamani reviewed human clinical evidence relating turmeric or curcumin to skin health. Eighteen studies met their inclusion criteria: nine examined ingestion, eight topical use, and one both. That mix matters before a result is used to sell a product that touches the skin only briefly.
The review reported early evidence of potential therapeutic benefits, but its conclusion also emphasized the limits of the published literature. A systematic review organizes available studies; it does not remove differences in the preparations, populations and conditions that those studies examined.

Turmeric and curcumin are not interchangeable product specifications
Curcumin is a component associated with turmeric research. A turmeric ingredient name does not disclose a standardized curcumin dose, delivery system or concentration. The presence of turmeric in a soap therefore does not make it equivalent to a specific curcumin treatment used in a clinical study.
