Honey + Turmeric Soap Benefits: What the Research Says
By Gaucho Gold · Brand editorial
Shop Honey + Turmeric — $12The short answer
Honey and turmeric have attracted skin-care research, but studies of ingredient preparations do not establish the same benefits for a rinse-off soap. Gaucho Gold Honey + Turmeric Tallow Soap is an everyday cleansing bar—not a clinically proven treatment for acne, dark spots or eczema.
Why honey and turmeric belong in the conversation
A systematic review by Vaughn and colleagues examined 18 human studies of oral and topical turmeric or curcumin. Its conclusion was early promise, not a universal result: the published studies were limited, and the authors called for more research. Oral supplements, topical preparations and a soap washed away after lathering are different exposures.
Burlando and Cornara’s narrative review discusses honey in skin care, including humectant and emollient roles in cosmetic preparations. That gives context for interest in the ingredient. It does not show how much honey is in our bar, how much remains after washing, or whether our finished formula produces a measured moisturizing effect.

The finished bar is the missing step
An ingredient can be interesting without every product containing it inheriting every reported effect. Concentration, processing, the rest of the formula and contact time all matter when comparing a study with a product. None of the papers cited here tests Gaucho Gold Honey + Turmeric Tallow Soap.
We do not turn ingredient research into promises of acne clearing, dark-spot fading, skin lightening or eczema treatment. If you are managing a condition, seek advice appropriate to it rather than replacing a prescribed routine with a soap because its ingredients appear in a paper.
What you can confidently choose today
Our signature option is a 4 oz / 113 g tallow-based bar with honey and turmeric as featured ingredients. It is a solid format for your everyday wash, with one-time ordering and a visible choice of one, three or six bars. The complete formula and directions belong on the packaging; the three featured ingredients are not the entire ingredient declaration.
Choose it because you want the golden signature bar and a straightforward daily ritual. Start with one if you are still deciding; keep a few in reserve when the bar fits your preferences. Set up a draining dish before the first use so the bar can dry between washes.
Questions before your first bar?
Is Honey + Turmeric soap clinically proven?
The cited papers study ingredient preparations, not the Gaucho Gold finished bar. We do not claim clinical proof of skin-treatment benefits for this soap.
Does honey and turmeric soap remove dark spots?
We do not claim this soap removes dark spots or lightens skin. Ingredient research is not evidence of that outcome for a rinse-off bar.
What is Gaucho Gold Honey + Turmeric soap for?
It is a tallow-based cleansing bar for an everyday washing routine. Follow the packaging directions and check the complete ingredient list for your needs.
Read the research. Know its limits.
These peer-reviewed publications concern ingredients and specific preparations. None tests or endorses the Gaucho Gold finished bar. Publication years are shown so you can assess the age of the evidence.
Systematic review of human clinical studies · 2016
Effects of Turmeric (Curcuma longa) on Skin Health: A Systematic Review of the Clinical Evidence
Alexandra R. Vaughn, Amy Branum, Raja K. Sivamani. Phytotherapy Research. PMID: 27213821.
The review included 18 studies of oral and/or topical turmeric or curcumin. The authors described early evidence of potential skin benefits, while emphasizing limited published evidence and the need for further research.
What this does not prove: Different preparations, routes and skin conditions were studied. This is not a trial of Gaucho Gold, a tallow base, or a brief rinse-off soap routine.
Narrative review · 2013
Honey in dermatology and skin care: a review
Bruno Burlando, Laura Cornara. Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology. PMID: 24305429.
This review discusses honey in dermatological and cosmetic preparations, including humectant and emollient roles. It describes how composition and botanical source affect its properties.
What this does not prove: A narrative review is not a controlled test of our bar. The paper does not establish a moisturizing result, ingredient concentration, or medical benefit for Gaucho Gold soap.
