How to store bar soap between showers
By Gaucho Gold · Brand editorial
The short answer
Store bar soap on a draining surface outside the direct shower spray. Give the bar a chance to dry between uses, and let it dry before closing it in a travel container.
Start with where the water goes
A dish with drainage lets water run away rather than collect around the base of the bar. Put it somewhere you can clean easily. A decorative bowl can work against that goal if it holds a puddle after every shower.
Check the position while the shower is running. A shelf that looks dry afterward may still sit in the spray during use. Move the bar away from that direct stream when you are finished washing.
A travel case is for transport
Let the bar dry before packing it when you can. A sealed case is useful for keeping a toiletry bag tidy, but it is not a replacement for a draining soap dish during a stay. At your destination, open the case and use a suitable draining surface.
Keep a damp bar away from loose paper packaging, spare clothing and other items that need to stay dry. Clean the case between trips according to its care instructions.
Use your own refill history
How long a bar lasts depends on how often it is used, whether it is shared, and how it is stored. A universal number of showers would be misleading. Note when you open a bar and when you need the next one.
Use that observation to choose your order size and delivery interval. If soap runs out before your deodorant or lip balm, a custom kit lets you choose more soap instead of assuming that every product empties at the same rate.
